Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10 by Marcus Luttrell - This true account of what happened in the mountains of Afghanistan was a great read. Although, I must warn you, if it was a movie it would be rated R for language and violence. Written by Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell it takes you all the way through his rigorous training, especially Hell Week, to the actual combat against Taliban forces that cost the lives of the rest of his team.
Let me tell you, it makes you proud to be an American. Knowing we have men like these watching our back and keeping us safe from extremists whose sole desire is the destruction of America is very encouraging. The story also demonstrates the power of prayer. I recommend this book to you as long as you understand it’s a rough read.

The Best of A.W. Tozer - Warren Weirsbe has compiled his 52 favorite chapters in the first volume and then 44 more in the second volume. If you are a pastor, trust me, you want both. In my sermon preparation I find myself going back to these books time and time again.
They offer tremendous topical insights to some of the most important issues facing us today. Tozer spoke like a prophet and his words have not lost their relevance. Weirsbe correctly assesses him this way; “Tozer
marched to a different drummer; and for this reason, he was usually out of step with many of the people in the religious
parade.” I heartily recommend this duo of dynamite for your bookshelf.

Golf’s Sacred Journey by David L. Cook - I can honestly say that this was the best book I’ve read in quite a while. And if you play the game of golf, I think this book should definitely be on your short list. My wife returned from a music convention where the president of Christian Supply Company got up and recommended it to everyone saying he’d already given away over fifty copies. Since she knew that I love to play golf she picked up a copy and brought it home. Though reluctant to begin, once I had read the first chapter I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down. David Cook is a great writer and you will be blessed by Golf’s Sacred Journey.
