The worst pandemic of all
COVID-19 comes nowhere close to the real pandemic affecting humanity: our sin. It has a 100% infection rate and a 100% mortality rate. You see, God created us for his glory (Isaiah 43:6-7), and so we should live for God's glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). However, we have all sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). Humanity naturally rejects God, and we seek to replace God with things that can never provide true fulfillment (Romans 1:21-23). This dishonors God, and as a result, we all deserve eternal punishment (Romans 6:23). In the meantime, the effects of our sin bring disappointment and even havoc to our earthly lives.
jesus came to give life
But God, in his great mercy, sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, into his creation to provide a way for sinners to have eternal life (John 3:16). On the cross, Jesus took the punishment for our sin (1 John 2:2). Now, eternal life is a free gift to anyone who will trust in Christ as Lord and Savior! "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
and give it abundantly
Those who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior become united with God despite their sin. God's Spirit enters their hearts, dethrones sin, and progressively transforms the way we think, feel and act to resemble Christ's sacrificial love (Colossians 3:10). In the end, a transformed life glorifies God while at the same time brings peace, joy and contentment in this life. And, it gets better: we look forward to the promise of dwelling with God forever in a new heaven and a new earth, where there is no more death, mourning, crying or pain. (Revelation 21:4)
DO YOU NEED TO GET RIGHT WITH GOD?
If you need to get right with God, or you know that you need Jesus in your life, here's the next thing you should do: Get on your knees and pray to God. Pour out your heart to Him. Tell him you're sorry for rejecting Him and that you need forgiveness for you sins. And tell Him that you believe in Jesus and accept him as your personal Lord and Savior to break the power of sin in your life and empower you to obey his commands found in the Bible.
